The ELC co-curricular program provides an opportunity for the children to explore interests and to extend their learning. All ELC children attend weekly specialist sessions in Music and Library, while our Pre-Preps also attend Physical Education. The children look forward to their specialist classes.
Weekly visits to the school library with early childhood teacher and School librarian. Specific ELC program which includes story reading and borrowing a book to take home to share each week.
45 minute session with the Junior School music teacher where children use musical instruments, engage in creative dance and movement. Musical vocabulary and concepts explored including pitch, rhythm and tempo. All done in a group setting with a program that links with the VEYLDF outcomes and the current teaching and topics being presented for each group within their class.
Our Pre-Preps weekly sport lesson is with Junior School sport teacher where children are exposed to a range of ball, bat and gross motor skills and a variety of equipment. Each week they build on capabilities and are extended to consolidate and challenge their skills. In Term 4, the children have an additional 30 minute swimming lesson in small group settings on campus in the school swimming complex.
The children in our Pre-Prep program visit our School bush site each week. This is an integral part of their program where they spend long, uninterrupted periods of time engaged in play and learning in a natural bush setting. The general wellbeing, physical skills, stamina, team work and self confidence are enhanced through their participation. The program has a strong focus on indigenous education where children area able to learn about culture and connections to the land.
